Hey folks,
I recently stumbled across a review of the new Lehle Basswitch boost pedals. I am basically very satisfied with my sound, so there's no need to change the character of the bass sound. I'm just wondering if a booster would improve the overall quality of my sound, especially with my effect pedals, by providing increased signal strength as an always-on-pedal at the beginning of the FX chain.
It got me thinking if I should get one, since:
- my ABZ is a passive bass
- there's more than 12 m (40 ft) of cable (plus five stomp boxes) between the bass and the amp.
On the other hand, a passive Dingwall bass has more output than a passive Fender, for example. So the benefit of a booster would probably be smaller, I guess.
Also, I use a rack compressor (always on) in my amp FX loop. Would that conflict with a boost pedal?
Does anybody have experience with booster pedals in general (or the Lehle ones in particular) in an FX chain? Does it make sense to add one to my pedal board?
Or is my GAS acting up again?
Cheers.
