I had it professionally installed and it all fitted in the existing cavity. Mind you I haven't looked inside to see what sort of mess is in there! ':wink:' Worth the effort. Cheers Ross

Thanks again, I was debating on having a battery box professionally installed about the same location of the ABII battery cavity/ or if there is room in existing cavity go there but install screw inserts to keep from stripping out holes. Im also debating on the 2 band or 3 band preamp, what do you think? Regards Kevin

You should have plenty room in the existing cavity. You may want to think about avoiding any non-reversible mods(no routing) as well as saving all your old parts, you may regret not doing so at some point down the line. Also, while inserts are slick, if they do pull out you've got a big hole to deal with whereas a stripped wood screw can be plugged effectively at least a few times before become a problem. FWIW, I have two batteries and an additional mini-pot mounted backward(went with a 3-band and didn't want to drill an extra hole)stuffed in my bass. It's tight and the foam above the batteries even puts a little pressure on the cover, but the four stock screws have held fine for many years. I'm very careful not to over torque anything.

I'm an old P-bass with flats sort of guy. 2 band was never an option for me on this bass although it works well for me on my Sadowsky. Cheers Ross
