Hello! I ordered a Dingwall NG2 5 Seca blue, and it should arrive in sep/oct. So here's a few questions for the waiting time. :)

Im going for some lower tunings for e.x drop C with low G (GCGCF)
I was thinking about the kalium strings steel set "158 118 90 67 51"
Will it fit in to the bridge and nut without any modifications? And also taking advice is the 158-51set fine for this tuning.

Also i was thinking to buy the Gator GPE-Bass-TSA case. I've heard it should fit in it. Any confirmations about it? ( Link for the case: https://www.thomann.de/gb/gator_gpe_bass_tsa.htm )

Thanks for your replies.

The bridge will be fine but the nut will need some work.

Ive used gauges similar to those on my last Combustion and my NG2 and both needed the nut modified.

If i remember rightly i managed to get to a .136 on my NG2 fine but after that it needed to be widened.

In regards to cases, you may want to take a look at the discussions here:

Sheldon talks about avoiding cases that are open and not form fitted.

One similar to the Gator, but more form fitted is by SKB:

I put a set on a while back that was a .148 top string I believe, tuned to G#. Didn't need any nut adjustment. You'll likely be ok with a .158 but don't be surprised if it needs some nut work.

Quick question. What is the fattest gauge set of strings that Dingwall offers as a set. I like my strings to be fatter, but not floppy or lose feeling. Which ones from dingwall should i use so i don't have to modify the bass at all? Thanks for the help.

I use a GDGCF tuning on my Dingwall NG2 and I use Kalium Steel 166 110 82 63 41 set to achieve this Drop G tuning. I plan to upgrade the bottom string into a 176 in the near future. You can't go wrong with Dingwalls, they can handle heavy gauges like those.
