80% of the time i am on passive mode, mostly running on the neck, neck/brigde (series) or the parallel position (the brigde pickup gets it's workout on the "solo" sections). BluEQube gets engaged for more vintage sounds. Many people opt for the brigde pickup on their basses (sometime I do too on other basses) but i want to feel the muscle and projection of the neck DW pickup (there is enough clarity in any setting)

Depends upon the gig. Usually I run my ABI with the treble about 15% short of rolled completely off (its my 'sweetspot'). I tend to run in Series, I toggle between using the bluEQube and not, depending on how much 'punch' I want. For a regular rock gig I tend to run either parallel or series and with the treble cranked. I play comfortably either right at the neck joint or with my thumb situated in the corner created by the front pickup and the B-string. Of course, my amp settings are a different story.

AB1, treble cut about 80%, maybe cut less if the strings are dead. Series mostly, with the bluEcube as needed. Amp EQ is usually set dead-flat. SJ settings? Still working on those. Mark

The last gig I was at I had mid and treble flat, with just a hint of boost in the bass. my pickup selector was on bridge, or bridge/parallel. I honestly don't remember which position. at the dress rehearsal, I kept flip flopping, but once the gig started, I was just having so much fun playing my new bass that I never really stopped to think about the pickups and tone... it was just happy happy happy... Either my ears are just incapable to differentiating good tone's, or this bass simply sounds great no matter what setting you are on... jmk

90% of the time, it's both pickups in series. The other 10% is the neck pickup with a heavy drive setting on the SansAmp played with a pick. This is with both the ABI and ABII in passive and tone all the way up. On the rare occasion, I'll engage the bluEQube. Amp settings are usually relatively flat.

Nix, nada, nothing...I only use the pickup selector. On my Z2, I use either the front pickup or parallel. On my AB, I installed a blend pot. Usually, it's just off center, favoring the bridge PU (where it sounds most similar to the Z2), but I'll roll it to 100% neck for mellow or slow songs. On my amp, I turn knobs until it sounds like the wrath of God, and then I turn it up. I'm actually thinking of pulling the pre-amps OUT of my basses, but I do like the buffering that they provide. Ideally, I'd find a couple Lane Poor 2X1AC (just buffering, no EQ) and put THOSE in the basses. My issue is that I use onboard EQ so rarely, that when the knobs get bumped, it takes me a while to figure out what's up. One time, my 3-year old MAXED the bass knob on my Z2 and my (rackmount) pre-amp was in the mail to the repair shop before I realized "Oh, THAT'S why I was getting so much clipping..." Then, I had a bad run of bumping my volume knob and inadvertantly turning down. So, I switched it and the pickup selector. My ideal setup would be just a single knob: the pickup selector. John

I myself, dont really like either the neck pickup solo'ed or the bridge pickup solo'ed, they both dont sound all that great to me, so i prefer to use both pickups. I really dont use the eq all that much because it sounds good flat.

I usually have a touch of bass boost, then adjust mids/pickup selection to taste.

Tone full-up, pickups in series, no bluecube effect (AB-1). Ken

These days, I have been using both pickups in series and the tone could be anywhere from full to zero, depending on my mood or the stuff I'm playing (ABI).

The last 2 times I've played live the soundman used a Whirlwind direct box. I monitored w/in ears and the Aviom. When in this situation I always use the series setting w/a tiny amount of bass boost and treble rolled back about half way for sound check since it's the hottest loudest signal I'm going to give the soundman. If I want to switch to neck or bridge (fretless) I boost the bass to match the volume of the series setting. Works great. If I don't do a line check in series I pretty much can't use it in the middle of a set because the volume is so much hotter, which I like btw. Well I could if I wanted to see the whole band turn around at the same time and scramble to turn the bass down in their mix.

Well, I plan to have 4 Dingwalls in the span of 4 years, but I likely will not be able to keep that pace up . That will be about 15K worth of DDG product. That ought to do. The only other Dingwall I'll be able to justify, or really need, will be a fretless AB at some point Mark

I did not plan to end up with a couple (:P ) of Dingwalls over the past year but as my Dingwall-itis was advancing to DAS (Dingwall Acquisition Syndrome), Dr Sheldon (tone and ergonomics specialist) suggested the homeo-Dingwall-opathy treatment as the only experimental route to halt the progress

Oh if only I could afford my treatment... Maybe I should start begging on the street!
