Hello Dingwall family!
I just wanted to introduce myself after being a lurker the past couple months and show off my AB-I and future Z3.
I have to give Burningskies credit for making me see the light in Dingwall. I was in the market for my first 5 string bass and saw his Rasta-burst bass over on the talkbass forum. From that day on I had been reading and watching every video I could find on youtube and on the talkbass/dingwall forums.
I ended up buying an AB-I secondhand on ebay and love it! My current bass before the AB-I is a G&L L2000 and even with the Afterburner being 5 strings, the AB-I seemed so much easier to play. The biggest adjustment for me was not the fanned frets but actually the added scale length. Now when I go back to my G&L it feels so unnatural.
One thing I was missing with the AB-I was all the tonal possibilities that I had with the G&L (active/passive, series/parallel, treble boost) and after GASing over a Z3 I finally placed my order!
Future Z3: 5 string, 3-band Glockenklang, walnut neck, birdseye maple fretboard with speedo bars, wenge contrasting layer, and quilted redwood top.
Here is my AB-I and my Z3’s top wood:

I apologize for the crappy AB-I pics and will do a photo shoot after I get my Z3 sometime around May.
