Hi folks, I looked around the Dingwall site and did some Googling, but I was unable to find the answer for this question: what are the gauges of the Dingwall strings? Is there info somewhere on the site I missed? I'm curious about the gauges of both the 5 and 6 string sets. Thanks for any info! ~ Jj

Hi Sheldon, Just to clarify, is that the gauges for a "standard" set of strings? Are the strings labelled light gauge for Voodoo basses the same? Sorry for the Noob question, I've only had a Dinger for two days now, so not that familiar with some of the details. :) Cheers, EG

That [i:13dfa8ju][b:13dfa8ju]is[/b:13dfa8ju][/i:13dfa8ju] the set of Dingwall strings. Just the one gauge specifically designed for these basses.

There was some talk about developing a set of flatwounds, but I think Sheldon has been busy with basses these days!

I don't know why the strings are labelled "light guage". As far as I know, there is only one set of gauges for Dingwall strings.

They were too short on the B. I'll test them as best as I can and have the manufacturer make adjustments. Even the 0.045" G feels lighter, yet they sound wonderfully balanced, defined and full

Sheldon & Co. I have a question in regards to gauges of your original Dingwall strings: This morning, before I've even found this post, ([i:3nf36eka]I see, said the blind man[/i:3nf36eka][/size:3nf36eka]) I've used a vernier to check the gauge of the strings my ABZ 5 was delivered with and this is exactly as said above: G - .045" D - .055" A - .075" E - .095" B - .127" However, the day after I bought the bass, I went back to the dealer to buy 2 spare sets of Dingwall strings, and these were the only gauges he stocked in 5 strings and they are: Voodoo Bass 5- strings set purple circled V - Light Gauge Stainless and the gauge is: G - .045" D - .055" A - .075" E - .095" B - .130" <<=== instead of .127 is that + .003 difference on the B string gauge going to make a lot of difference in terms of action and more importantly in sound delivery, i.e. will it be louder and will I need to move the pickups slightly away (down) from the strings? Finally can you please tell me how many different gauges of 5 strings are there available, are the packaging color coded? Thank you very much in advance

The difference on the B string is not that big of a deal. I read that Sheldon changed the gauge to .127 and didn't change the packaging.
Sheldon & Co. We just have the one guage. We'll re-do the packaging when we re-do all the graphics. The string on your bass now is a .127".
