Im considering funding a new bass buy, and am trying to get a feel for sale value of my used Lee Sklar Z2, sn 4299 (to help date age- i figure its about 3 years old) in good to great condition, from what i see on line- it seemed that 2800-3000$ cndn might be the right ball park. any input on value or interest in purchase let me know (no pics- as we all know what they look like, but if anyone interested i will post some close ups) thanks jf

I don't know what they go for new, but I think you are probably in the right ball park. That being said, I think the market for used instruments is generally down and so is the pricing. I am currently trying to sell some basses and they are not moving quickly at what I consider fair/good pricing. I know others that have encountered the same. Good luck with the sale! P.S. We all love to see pictures of Dingwall basses here!

Axe music in Canada list one in stock on theirsite with a retail of $4200, so i would think 3000 is inline and 2800 would be a real deal IMHO, but like was mentioned ,ive been watching some really nice Basses on ebay and have been surprised at the lo prices or constant re-listing wtih no sales at all? those are kinda scarce too so that could help.

thanks for the feedback everyone, I will post some pics when i can shortly, (but its just a standard Blueberry LS Z2, so it looks as they all do...will get close ups on the wear so they are worth taking) this one sounds like NO Other LS Z2, (I have played several - this one has the most pronounced, loud, DARK, articulate tone on the bass side, litterally A-B'd it with one at Axe, this one is louder, more treble presence, and just plain hotter signal...all from the difference the individual wood piece made) so much so, i may not be able to part with it...but there is a fodera calling my name, and i have 3 DW's...so sometimes sacrifices have to be made...like if i find a perfect Z1/2/3 with FD3's in it....and a grande price...

here is a link to the pictures- they are close ups to show the very best (or worst!) close ups of the light play wear/checking on the bass, its in very good shape, and you have to get the right light to even see most of the marks (from thumb/finger work around strings - very minor - but want to ensure every little mark is disclosed- and this is as best i can tell) if any one is serious and wants more specific close ups etc or sound samples- let me know (its got a great GREAT voice - more pronounced/edge than any other sklar i have played, and very big sound, lots of highs and lows- piano like) https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=7 ... der%2c.JPG

All Lee Sklars are [url=http://www.dingwallguitars.com/basses/z-series/z2/:3thlhf4b]Z2s[/url:3thlhf4b]. More specifically, they're Z2s with a particular body wood choice, a bit different pickup selector and finish.

i didn't realize the Z2 and the LS's were actually Z2's. but now that i think about it, they do look exactly alike. hey, i love the blueberry. sheldon, as so many people say, has the greatest colors. it's true. it looks like i'll have to accept less for mine than i thought i was going to have to. i can hold out for 3000 though. no really hurry. good luck with your sale, jf.
