This was a prototype of the new Afterburner 3 pickup offering that is now being offered on all Afterburners for an extra chunk of cash. The four way rotary selector offers you 1) a solo’d P tone, 2) a solo’d J bridge tone, 3) a Z2 tone (bridge and middle pickup in series), and finally 4) a bridge/neck in parallel (PJ tone). Bass weighs somewhere in the 7.5lb range and is joy to strap on and play. Specs: Swamp Ash Body with Vintage Burst satin finish Walnut Neck w/Wenge Fretboard p-pickup in ABZ shell in front p'up position 4-way position switch (described above) Dingwall gig bag Since purchasing it I have also added a hipshot Detuner and I will include the original tuner with it as well. The bass is phenomenal and in some ways better sounding than my Super PZ5, but alas I need the 5 string. While I added the detuner to help me make it usable in my band, I'm still running up against limitations in regards to my playing style.
