I just bought myself the nice Super-P I found for sale here under "Gear for sale". Since the P-bass is [i:3rnbuub1]the real old school bas extraordinaire[/i:3rnbuub1] I'd like to have a good set of flats for this one too. Anyone around with experience in different brands? I use Thomastik Infeld for my ordinary P-bass, but I figure the G and D strings may be too sloppy with the shorter scale. Another thought is the new Ernie Ball Cobalt flats. Anyone used them on a Super-P? Anyway, all input and ideas matter...

I don't have tons of experience with different types of flats, but I have the TI flats on my Super P5 and they sound and feel good. I have heard that the EB Cobalts are very bright.

(Well, I saw there is only one gauge, but different lengths...)

Another vote for the Thomastik Infeld Jazz Flats. I have them on my Super PJ and I love them.

Okay, The Thomastik string sets are made for 34" long scale and 36" extra long scale. Will the 34" be long enough for the 34,25" E-string?

Mine are the standard long scale set (JF345) and they fit fine.

I use TI's exclusively. I've use them on a Prima Artist,Z3,Super P, Super J and now my Super J 3x. I have tried ground wounds and round wounds and have always gone back to the TI's due to tone and feel. I love them. They have been fine on all the Dingwall's I've had over the years.

Another TI Jazz Flat fan here. On the four string Super PJ, the standard set fits fine. On the five string, I shortened the saddle screws to get the non tapered B and E low enough for my taste. Currently on a round wound kick with DR Pure Blues. Next set up will be new TI flats, E-C. My favorite strings!
