my thoughts exactly! had no idea it was listed privately. just saw it when visiting bassnw's web site. A while back, they had a used 6-string ab-II that went in about 2 days, I heard about it on day 3. never was posted here. it's nice to have a summary here of all the various places a dw bass might be found!

I just found a Dingwall AB I 5 string on ebay. I won't post a link...ebay watchers know how to find things. Starting bid is $1500. I paid $1250 for mine thru Craig's List. But, $1500 is fair I think.

The seller ended the auction shortly after I posted my message. Search on ebay under musical instruments>guitar>bass>dingwall, then click completed listings on the left side about half way down, and you'll see the listing that the seller ended a short time ago. He/she must have gotten smart and decided to keep it!

Here's an AB 1.5 (listed as ABII, but it's one of the active ABI's that Jong had made for Jive Sound). This person is in my hood too...no shipping charges...must resist.... Yeah...that looks like a nice one. I hate it when I get my eBay email alerts for Dingwalls!

I've already checked out the one on ebay. I think I found it a few minutes after it listed....I need a life, huh? Is it really called an AB 1.5? What is the advantages over an AB I? I don't have the benefit of playing a Dingwall before I buy, there's no dealer closer than 3.5 hours away. :( Honestly, my AB I blows me away! I can't see me needing any more diversity, tonewise. I actually just leave it set one way, and occasionally flip the switch when I slap. So, since I can't hear the differences, will someone with an AB II tell me what they are? Thanks :)

As I understand it, the AB 1.5 (which is just what we call it) is a limited edition AB I (woods and such) with the active electronics like an ABII. Someone please correct me if this is wrong...

Afterburner on ebay. How does an Afterburner differ from an AB I? I noticed there's no switch. Is $1000 high?
