This is great! Good luck with the project :)

If you don't mind, also post those videos on youtube. I have a dummy FB account that I only use to gain access to content like this, and I guess the people interested into Dingwalls who don't use FB might find these videos interesting. Or are they publicly visible and searchable already?

I'm not quite sure how I want to proceed with this. The idea is for me to get some publicity for myself so I want it to be linked to that facebook page. However, at some point I will probably put them on youtube. I am going to be doing an interview today with a friend of mine who is doing crazy electronic inspired metal as well as some generally wild stuff. I also plan on looking at a Z1 as well today.

You will get more publicity if you create a youtube channel dedicated to your clips than you would on fb, I think facebook is more like a gossip newspaper than a platform for music & distribution like youtube is already established in that market niche.

Yeah, you might be right. I'll think on it. Either way, I have some pretty cool stuff lined up. Hopefully, a few of you here will enjoy it.

Nice job Mike. You really chose good lines to show the different pickup positions. A nice balance of great chops and musicality.

I'd like to offer some constructive criticism.

I've always found that videos like this tend to leave me wanting when it comes to hearing the bass and what it can do. When using a webcam, hand held video camera, flip cam or cell phone to record clips of instruments, I have a hard time appreciating the actual nuance and voice of the instrument. The mic's on those things are never very high quality. In fact, I had a hard time discerning what was playing technique artifact, what was string noise, and what was the speaking voice of the bass. This is not to spurn your technique or action settings, I just can't hear what I'm after.

I don't think that it's required that the bass sound be recorded and sent to LA for mastering, but what would be much, much more informative for me would be clips recorded direct through an interface, no eq. I'm sure you're familiar with this video, but this is a good example of what would help the listener. [url:c6bl9qss]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bmfOSD_Jjc[/url:c6bl9qss]
This eliminates undesired room artifacts, all the failings of the microphones, and allows the true character of the bass to be glimpsed.

I hope that you continue on with your interviews. Good luck to you.

Yeah, I agree the sound isn't ideal. I will be working to improve it. Oh yeah, and the bass definitely needs a setup, but I just can't part with it long enough to get one done. Thanks for watching!

Hey, for those who are interested. I put up and interview with friends of mine Sound-Splash! They are a great band from Vernon BC and the bass player really likes his combustion.

The one thing I was surprised by is that there's not an all 3 pu on setting on the Z3.

Yeah, I believe that it's meant to be both a Z1 and Z2 together. I'm sure Sheldon can answer this much better than I can.
