http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gJtvLnLJhU Here's some raw footage of the blast. This is the largest dam to fall to salmon habitat restoration so far in the US. They did a "trap and truck" of salmon into the river above the dam this summer, so salmon were spawning up there for the first time in many years. http://www.pacificorp.com/es/hydro/cdb.html this one is live streaming.

Here is a better video in time lapse: http://video.nationalgeographic.com/vid ... h-vin.html I may end up working on this now that the powerhouse needs to be closed in. A lot of the Union carpenter work up in this area has to do with dams, and the fish passages needed to keep the salmon from extinction. A good cause and a decent paycheck. Fish ladders are really expensive.

Astonishing - looks like there was only about 6 foot of water above the silt behind the dam!

They drew down the water before breeching. That dam is 120 feet tall. It overflows the spillways in the winter rains.
