Sheldon: When playing with my right hand fingers I rest my thumb on the lower edge of whichever p/u I'm playing over. I don't feel like I'm putting much pressure on it but the treble side pick up screws keep backing off. What can I put on them to stop that from happening without causing problems. I was going to use a little bit of LockTite on them but a friend says that could make it difficult to remove them later on. Any suggestions?

My tip would be to remove the screws, get a toothpick, dip it in wood glue, stick it in the screw hole, allow it to dry, then redrill the screw hole with a smaller drill bit, reapply the pickup and screws and that should do it.

Locktite is intended for metal. Longer screws would be best. Toothpick and glue your next best bet. My only caution is if the screw starts feeling really tight, back it out and drill a clearance hole for the screw trunk (center solid section).

I'm going to be taking to my local Luthier next month for set up & tweaking so I'll get him to fix up then. I'll keep an eye on them & adjust as required until then.
