Anyway, somebody mentioned cars in a post, and the thread took a detour for a while. What's wrong with that? It's certainly not the first time it's happened here on the Dingwall forum. I see it as being no different than a real-time conversation, where the subject can be changed for a moment, then returned to. I agree that continued talk about subjects not directly related to basses in general, and Dingwalls in particular, would quickly grow tiresome, but I don't see the problem with a quick diversion. Given the response to the twist the thread took, it seems more people enjoyed it than not. Don't fret...I'm sure that thread, like this one, will soon be buried pages-deep, never to be seen again. i guess me and sheldon are the forum moderators. the way i see it we have such level-headed, reasonable posters in this group that all problems will be discussed and rectified. If there comes a time when we feel a need to take action, we will do so.

Sheldon has already posted in the past that he doesn't want an 'off topic' forum here on the message board...that there are other places for such talk.

Well, still, I've seen this forum grow from a manufacturer's forum to an actual mini community, with its regulars etc, it might be time to reconsider having an off topic subforum. It's all the same to me, I just think that it would be used from some members, so maybe there is a "need" for it. Anyway, sheldon's call.

The moderators will tell us when they have had enough of our silly, time-wasting, non-bass oriented topic diversions. Forums, in general, are supposed to be entertaining, informative, and conversational in nature, IMO. Should it ever be mandated that the Dingwall forum be restricted to informational topics only, and brief, off-topic diversions become banned or deleted, then so be it, but you'll see a lot less of me around here if that happens. I belong to a couple of other instrument-oriented forums, and I must say that they seem to be less worried about off-topic ramblings than some of the members here are. I also belong to a Magnum forum and guitars occasionally come up in conversation. Nobody seems to mind. So, what do you all think about the new Camaro? I don't like it, but I'm not willing to discuss why. Mark

I liked the new camero when I saw pictures of it. It had a sleek shark-like look to it. When I saw it " in person", not so much. It's nice but I won't be trading my P51B Mustang for one.

My company builds interior parts for the new camaro. We make the door bolsters, instrument panel appliques. These parts are molded, painted (three main colors are graphite silver, light neutral metallic, and inferno orange) then we use a proprietary flow coat hard coat process to protect them from sun damage. (some of these cars will eventually be ragtops, it's the same coating process we use on headlight and tailight assemblies that receive non stop sun. It's been a fun process , the build numbers on these cars have been amazing, but it will start slowing down now that preorders are finished and the lots are filling up with them. I like the car a lot, but I'm still holding out for a Dodge Magnum wagon

I was merely thinking that others might want to stay on topic and we could talk about other things where it is more suitable - I saw an off-topic area on another forum and thought it was a good idea, but now that I think about it, that wasn't a very well run forum. - Agreed, everyone here seem to be very mature about their posting. I was just checking out some pictures - the Camero is a pretty cool, mean looking car.

It doesn't matter to me, the reason I read this forum is for Dingwall's and to learn more about bass guitars and music, so no matter what I'll still be signing in. Which I think is the same for alot of others. I wouldn't complain one way or the other, but I think if a topic started to go off go off course, there would be an area where it could be taken too without disrupting the rest of the thread.
