The ABZ finish is the bomb, IMO. Will the matte poly ABZ-type finish ever be available on the C bass? That's cheaper to do than a gloss finish, right?

We're doing the Matte Blacks. They wind up being more expensive. Probably the fact that there's so much re-work if you get a dust nib.

It will be smooth though, not grainy like the ABZ.

So, how's the 4 string C bass coming along?

Will you/how much will you upcharge for that finish?

Also, when can we expect new finishes to be developed? caugh caugh candyappletangerine caugh[/size:1j3rtl4u]

Before Bronze Age was developed, I was thinking of having my SJ finished like this. We were that close to doing it. (This was after the hot pink idea was retired  , for now ) Then along came the Baltic Amber pickguard material that changed everything. I still love the candy orange. I think it would be a great addition to the C bass finishes.

We won't be charging for the Matte Black finish. We will be charging for the matching headstocks though. We spec'd all of the Matte Blacks in this run with MH's.

I'll be working on a Candy Tangerine soon. I have no idea if it's a tough or easy color to pull off.

This color sample/pic, from what I can see, looks to be a candy (which is transparent by nature) orange-ish (on the yellow side) color over a pearl white base. I would also take a guess that there is a little orange or yellow pearl in the clear over the color coats. You could also do this finish with a metallic silver base coat with good result. Don't forget the pearl in the clear over the color coats.

The other question is, what color, on which area of the fender ar you talking about? There are a bunch to choose from.

Sorry. I looked at it again and the approximate coordinates should be: Quadrant IV (50, -10). Quadrant I (100, 2) will wash out under the lights a bit.

K, figured it out. This is the new toughest to spray finish by a long shot.

Wow. Honestly, this probably trumps the awesomeness of Lee Sklar green. Great job! This thing will cause some GAS.

Very nice, Sheldon. What is the name of the new color? Why is it more difficult than the green to lay down?

I predict that somebody will be ordering a an orange Dingwall today. It won't be me, sadly.

Will that finish be available on the 4 str? I doubt I need another 5, but it would be nice perhaps.

Green and orange are my favorite colours! :D

Edit: Oh, I just realized that's a Z2. Will it be available on the Combustion?

...or a C2?

You could have both green and orange and play through Ashdown Little Giant[/url:24xhr4kz] heads. Play the green bass at smaller gigs when you only need the matching 350W head and play the orange bass at louder gigs where you need the matching 1000W head!

Somebody needs to do this.

That's a Sklar - only knobs, no switches, and a candy finish, of course.

I doubt we'll see that exact finish on the Combustion, due to costs. :( There may be something similar, like the Combustion CAG and Sklar Green. One can only dream :D
