this is an absolute joke. No wonder the USPS is having financial problem. It still amazes me that they haven't privatized this office. I mean really UPS and FED Ex turn a profit and still charge a reasonable amount to get a package from place-to-place. Anyway please keep us updated

Anyway please keep us updated[/quote:2uscq772] I do a lot of buying and selling on ebay and I use USPS for shipping many of my items...they're cheaper, up to a point, than UPS or Fedex. It all depends on what it is, though. I sent a 410 bass cab to Washington state a couple of days ago, $50 with Fedex. It was going to be [i:2uscq772]$97 [/i:2uscq772]with USPS. Go figure. But USPS rates can be half of what UPS charges for a smaller package. So I have to decide my carrier based on the package. Dumb. But Frank is right - we're only talking about a priority mail letter and a package large enough to hold a dvd, that's it. It took [i:2uscq772][b:2uscq772]16 days[/b:2uscq772][/i:2uscq772] for my letter to reach Saskatoon. I get items to and from Europe quicker than that. I guess changes in customs regulations since 9-11 have really screwed things up, but it's 33 days since I sent my payment, and still no dvd. That's insane. It would be so much easier with a credit card or paypal. A check only? Who does business this way anymore? Needless to say, I won't be ordering my copy of Canoe Quest until they make it easier to pay. :P Mark

USPS is co-operating with the greek national postal service and they do the customs process themselves for free. That is, you only pay the import tax. I had a cab sent to me through FedEx and, while the cab was declared for $200 and I had already paid around $200 more for shipping, I also had to pay an extra 240 euro ($300) for import tax, handling, storing, blah blah blah (the import tax was like $50, and that's what I would have paid if I had it shipped with USPS). So, if USPS ever becomes like UPS and FedEx, I'll just stop buying from the US - and I have spent several thousands of dollars on gear over the last couple of years or so.

That's an extremely long delivery wait for a small mail letter. Maybe it got lost, or worse, it was never sent.

I'm sending an original Sun label Elvis 45 record to France today. It's a small box, but UPS/Fedex charges would be more than triple compared to USPS. Mark

No, that was the actual transit time to get a money order to Canada from Texas, 16 days. The dvd was sent out to me 18 days ago, but hasn't shown up yet. Nothing's lost, just extremely slow. Mark

Do you have proof that they've actually sent it? The people on the other end don't seem like they're terribly dependable.

[quote="BurningSkies":gv5muh5i]Do you have proof that they've actually sent it? Keep in mind that the hold-up is not Juxtapose Production's fault. The delay has been due to Snail Mail. After many years of dealing with people on ebay, craigslist, and mail order in general, I've discovered that most sellers are honest people just trying to make a buck. Only once did I not receive an item, a $12 dvd. Apparently the seller met a bad end and his family tried to clean up his ebay obligations, but they couldn't find the dvd, so I just let it go. Maybe I was scammed, but I don't think so. Mark

I'm not saying that they don't mean the best, just that many times stuff 'goes into the mail'...and sits in the mail room for a week or ends up on someone's desk or some such thing. Even some of my favorite people to buy stuff from have had this happen...

The postal service in Canada and the USA are both mysteries to me. I live in Saskatchewan and have a daughter in Indiana (in fact I'm there right now) A couple of weeks ago I sent my 2 year old grandson a birthday card and it was there in four days - regular letter mail. And yet sometimes when I order stuff from down here it takes weeks. I think it depends if it is at the bottom of the sorting bin or not, and how much stuff keeps getting dumped on top before they actually reack the bottom!

It was just sent "regular" mail to me, so there's no way to track it. I once sent an old Incredible Hulk lunch box to New Mexico with USPS parcel post. It took [i:3baxxa27]5 weeks[/i:3baxxa27] to get there, and the buyer was upset, for sure. That's the last time I sent anything without the delivery confirmation option. Unfortunately, I don't think USPS tracking is in real-time like UPS or Fedex, so that wouldn't tell me much about the current dilemma anyway. Mark

Finally! It arrived, unceremoniously, in a thin dvd case, but with a decent label on the disc. I've only watched a couple of minutes, but I did notice the video quality to be good. Based on just the short portion I saw, the dvd ooks like something that would be requisite for a Dingwall nut, just be very patient. :? Mark
