All, Seems like we have a few members on the forum in the DC/MD/NoVA area. Anyone interested in getting together to show off the Dingwalls (and any other basses of note)? Maybe we can talk to Jong at Jive Sound about helping out as he's our local dealer. I have an Afterburner I, a Super J4 and the new Z3 I'd be willing to bring out and let people try. Interested? Please respond to this thread and maybe we'll get something going in the next few months. You might as well indicate your preference of a meeting (i.e. weekend day, evening, as well as venue (residence, bar, music store). Thanks, Rob H

This sounds like a lot of fun, but please never do one near me. I'm pretty sure that if I play a Z3, I'd stop eating for a while so I could afford one.

Yeah it was fun to see/meet the guys, and very nice to play the Z2 and Z3. Thanks to Rob for organizing the event and thanks to Jong of Jive Sounds for hosting it at the shop. And thanks to Sheldon for calling in to say hi (and for all those nice basses!).
Hopefully we can do it again after we've all acquired a few more basses and it would be great to increase the number of people (although we might need a bigger space if we do). Rob[/quote:3w1kqx4i] Heck, I'm flying in for the next event. :D John

I am really happy the meeting took place and everything went great. I will try to organize something similar over this side of the pond in the (near) future. And I have to admit that 25 Dingwalls keep me very busy
Nice shot. You know, as amazing as that picture is, it just goes to show how over-the-top Fullrange's collection is - one guy with 24 (25?) Dingwalls. Wow. I'm hoping for a Texas Dingwall GTG someday. :) Mark[/quote:2vwdksbf] Agreed about fullie's collection, he has a few I had my eye on and waited to pull the trigger. My bad on those! The meet was great, and my impression of XRob's Z3 is that it made me decide that I may want a Z3 instead of holding out for a Prima...and that says a lot to me, the feel and tone possibilites were amazing. I will upload some of my pics once I d/l them if any turned out well. It was great meeting some really cool fellow Dingwallers!

Hi all, Sorry for the delay, but I thought I would post a wrap-up of the events yesterday. We all met at Jive Sound in Alexandria, VA. Jong is an authorized Dingwall dealer and fellow forumite and offered up his place to host the event. We had 5 guys in attendance and 11+ basses there, which means everyone had more than one Dingwall present. Everyone played my Z3 (you'll have to ask them for impressions as you already know mine) and we took turns with the other instruments. My personal highlights were Dave's beautiful AB (center-left AB with scroll-work in my photo) and Frank's hot-rodded AB (far right AB). Both sounded great and looked even better. I had my SJ restrung with DR Black Beauties while I was there and will report back after playing this weekend. The strings look pretty cool against the maple neck and I was pleased with the initial sound. Everyone took photos, but here are the best of mine. My apologies for some of the fuzziness. I was shooting without flash and it was tough to hold the camera still. Sheldon called in during the proceedings to see how the event was going. I had a great time and met some very cool people, all of whom share the Dingwall disease. Here is a link to my photos. If you have pics of the event, you can upload them to this site as well. And you should be able to download full res versions if you're interested! http://gallery.mac.com/robh#100040 Hopefully we can do it again after we've all acquired a few more basses and it would be great to increase the number of people (although we might need a bigger space if we do). Rob

Darn it, I missed the get together. Something stupid came up and got in the way. I hope someone took some pictures.

You loan out your Dingwalls? You're a far braver man than I. Still, I'll have my old-skool ABI there for playin'. Rob

I'll be there, but only with 2 of my 3 Dingwalls, the ABI is on loan and I wasn't able to get it back in time :?

Hey guys, hope everyone is still able to make it tomorrow. I would suggest bringing stands for your basses as I don't think Jong has that many extras. That way, we can keep things organized. See everyone tomorrow. Rob
My Dingwall and I will be appearing live on stage at Red Eye's Dock Bar from 2-6 that afternoon. Have a great time. I hope I can another GTG.[/quote:kha4ah3z] Then we'll all have to come to your gig with our Dingwalls, and confuse the audience with all the fanned frets.

Talked to Jong @ Jive and he says the 22nd will work the best. How about 1pm? Maybe spend a few hours and then see what happens from there. Please RSVP to this thread. I'm hoping for 100% attendance of the local forumites... Rob

I recently bought a ABII and would like to see Jong's shop. I'm in Catonsville, MD and could host at my house, if that's needed. Good excuse to put a fresh keg in the bar. :D Either way, I'd like to attend. Let me know the final details. Thanks
