Greetings, all. I still can't believe I'm doing this but, I really have no choice. My Afterburner 6 is up for sale. Here's the link to the ad on TalkBass: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthrea ... ost4432742 I totally don't want to sell it, it's the only Dingwall I have, but I have to. The housing market is in the toilet, and I got laid-off from my job with a builder. Replacing that job hasn't happened yet. The timing on this mess couldn't be worse. I'm getting married at the end of October, and suffice it to say we're coming up a bit short on paying for everything. So if anyone wants a mint AB6, well, I have one for you. Thanks guys. Joe

If it was a 5str it'd be mine in a heartbeat. I am sorry to hear that hardship has hit a fellow Ding-aholic and I hope all will get back to normal soon (I've had my fair share more than once and I know how it feels). By all means if you need a bass (to hold and play) I'll send you one from my herd till things get ok. I've got some other great non-DW basses (substitution therapy till the real McCoy comes back)

Thanks so much for your kindness guys. It means a lot to me. Fullrangebass, wow, that's a very generous offer! I will still have one bass though, a Fender MIM P-bass strung with flats. It was my first bass, and I'll never sell it (not that I could get anything for it anyway, they go for about $400 new!). My grandfather bought it for me shortly before he died, so it has a lot of sentimental value. I just keep trying to think that I will get another Dingwall sometime. Maybe when I can, the SJ5 will be out! :D Thanks again guys. The awesome people who play these instruments are the best community of players out there! Joe

How easy do you reckon it would be to get that to Australia?

[quote="callum":1s6hfvqs]How easy do you reckon it would be to get that to Australia?[/quote:1s6hfvqs] I just had an experience shipping a 16" floor tom to Australia. The USPS has tightened up their guidelines for maxium sizes to go cheaply. An 18x18x18" box had to go 3 day @ $500+. I ended up taking all the hardware off and putting it into a 16x16x16" box and got the price down to $200 10 day. The only way to get a real price is box it up and go down there and have them weigh and measure to get the price.

Yeah, looks to me like it could be done for about $200. But then for goods over $1000 I have to go through all this red tape with customs. I think it would be easier to find a friend visiting overseas to bring it back. I have an offer, but the timing isn't that good as he was just here, has used up his business class flight (so next will be economy), and isn't back until December.

This AB is about a year-and-a-half old, and has the Dingwall FD3 pickups. $500 for shipping?!?!?!?!?! Cripes, I could practically jump on a plane with it myself and hand-deliver it! At least then I'd finally get to see Australia!

Thanks Joe! I've taken the plunge to Dingwall ownership - one man's misfortune is another man's gain in this case. I hope you get a chance to replace it soon, Joe. Meanwhile, the bass is on it's way to a friend's house in NYC. I just have to work out how to get it to Sydney from there...

Thanks, Callum, I know you'll love it! I hope I'll be able to replace it soon as well, but it's not looking good for that. When I do, it'll be a fiver - I just didn't use that sixth string as much as I anticipated I would. Joe
