I actually debated about posting this here, cause my gut says this is a good deal and I should buy it, but I have to know... is this really an Afterburner II? Did it ever use that shape? I know its early (just based on back logo, no battery holder, headstock), but don't know how it should price. Is this a Prima (I would think if so it would help the value). What are the controls? Any help?

Hopefully it won't be suddenly be sold after posting here. :(

Well, it's got an exotic top and back, the body is made out of two different woods like Zs and Primas, and it doesn't have that AB neck heel. AB-IIs are active, this one is passive. It's a Prima alright, and it should be bought NOW.

That's an early "Voodoo" Prima, it originally would have had a 9-volt Bartolini pre and pick-ups. Walnut core, maple top and back with a 9-piece maple neck, it's in good shape for a 15 year old bass. If it has an OBP-1 pre(which makes sense because the original bart was a 2-way eq) then the controls are most likely still stock, Volume, Blend, Bass/Treble stacked.

FWIW, looks like the pick-up covers are Bartolini. Having swapped the original Barts to FD-3's I can tell you that neither pick-up cover just slips right off. If the description is accurate I'd guess the pics were taken before the retrofit.

Holy Crap...a pre-fire Voodoo for 2K? Buy that now.

I'll do you the service of not buying it.

That's what my Voodoo cost me in '05. Sweet deal there.

Uh oh, another Dingwall addiction seems to be forming.

The first one is the hardest to buy, what with the "leap of faith".

After that, it all makes sense, and all you need is a couple more...

Nice catch!

Primas have always been naturally finished. IIRC we've only done 2-3 colored ones. I have no way of knowing but that might be one that the dealer loaned to us for the 1997 NAMM show when we didn't have any stock.

Either way, it's not a Afterburner in any sense, and it's a beautiful bass. It was VERY hard for me not to grab it. :?

A similar bass just came up for sale in The Netherlands this weekend.
I first thought it was the same advertisement, but it isn't.

Serial nr. 1215, selling price 2800 euro, 1995 Prima.

Got it in. Very nice shape with original Dingwall bag, wrenches, and even neck wax. The registration paperwork even says "Voodoo Prima".

That Dingwall Neck Wax is really nice stuff, slick and smooth like ice.

Looking forward to some pics!

Congrats on the best Dingwall deal I've ever seen.
