I hope this an ok place to post this (otherwise I can move it). I was curious about various wood types and if any fruit woods (such as apricot, apple, cherry, etc.) are ever used in instruments (particularly bass) and if not, if there are reasons for it.

How 'bout an apricot wood bass with a transparent candy tangerine burst?

I could be wrong but I think most fruit woods are too soft/not dense enough.

The only fruit wood I've ever used was Cherry. It's a lot like alder but a little more dense and a little heavier.
